Employment Hero Expands Into Canadian Market With $112M Acquisition

The Aussie company has acquired Canadian Rival Humi

Sydney based tech start-up Employment Hero has acquired Humi, a Canadian employment platform, for $112 million.

This deal is the next step for the company’s global expansion, after securing $263 million through the backing of Californian venture capital firm TCV. This led to the tech company securing a valuation of more than $2 billion at the end of 2023, achieving a double-unicorn status.

Employment Hero currently serves more than two million employees and 300,000 business across Australia, New Zealand, the UK and the Asia-Pacific region.

The acquisition of Humi is the start of a long plan to expand into Canada.

Humi was founded by Kevin Kliman and Matt Loszak in 2016, and is used by almost 3,000 Canadian businesses including Tim Hortons and Golf Canada.

Employment Hero is promising that 2025 will be their best year yet, after recently seeing its revenue grow 50% to $165.4 million.
