Zero Co Tackles the Issue of Forever Plastics with ForeverFill

The Aussie company is combating the global waste crisis with innovative enhancements.

After two years of extensive research and testing, Zero Co has unveiled the ForeverFill system, a world-first, fully recyclable paper refill system designed to reduce plastic waste.

The overhaul of its personal care and cleaning product refill system was driven by the realisation that its previous closed-loop system—where customers returned refill pouches to be cleaned and reused—resulted in only 42% of the plastic being returned. This led to more single-use plastic being produced than reused.

Although 220,000 pouches were redistributed through the previous system, the team believed there had to be a simpler and more effective way to combat single-use plastic.

“Zero Co exists to solve the global waste problem, so we’re not afraid to challenge our assumptions and pivot when facts demand it. With ForeverFill™, we’re setting a new standard in sustainability, pushing boundaries to create solutions that truly impact our planet. This complete reimagining of our personal & home care range helps people reduce waste at home while funding ocean cleanups. It’s not just an improvement – it’s a revolution in how we address the plastic problem.”

Zero Co CEO & Founder Mike Smith

The ForeverFill pouches can now be easily recycled at home, and no longer requires customers sending back plastic pouches for cleaning and recycling.

Enhancing convenience for customers, Zero Co has also developed new Forever Bottles made from 90% recycled materials. These bottles are guaranteed for life and contain 97% less plastic than those of competitors.

Committed not only to reducing plastic production but also to removing existing single-use plastic from the environment, Zero Co upholds its “10-for-1” promise. For every product purchased, the company pledges to collect the equivalent of 10 water bottles’ worth of ocean waste. To date, they have removed over 45 million water bottles from waterways worldwide.

Since its launch in 2020 with an initial lineup of laundry detergents, dishwashing liquids, and personal care products packaged in recyclable refillable bottles, Zero Co has continued to innovate and tackle the global waste problem.
